New Zealand Grand Prix
The title "Grand Prix" has been in existence since the very early days of Motorsport in the world. In New Zealand this premier New Zealand race was recognised in 1950 on the Ohakea Air Force Base circuit.
The New Zealand Grand Prix will be held this season at Manfeild Circuit on Sunday, 12 February 2012

Toyota Racing Series
NZ’s premier single-seater class is back this year and stronger than ever. TRS secured a fantastic line-up of NZ and international drivers last season and we look forward to more of the same this year. Toyota Racing Series was designed as the perfect platform for our young rising stars looking for an international racing career.
Suzuki Swift Sport Cup
Suzuki Swift Sport Cup provides a platform for aspiring racing drivers to compete for a NZ Championship, providing some of the most exciting and closest motorsport on the programme. In its fifth season, this one-make class has proven its worth, with a fantastic field of cars lining up at each event; with more of the same expected this season.
UDC V8 UTES
If you wanted a category full of passion, fun and characters, then V8 UTES is it. This season will see the UTES progress to full MotorSport NZ Championship status which is a sure recipe to lift the bar even further. The UTES provide a fantastic spectacle, as the Fords battle it out with the Holden on track. Based on the highly successful Australian Series, the UTES bring that unique opportunity for Trans Tasman rivalry.
New Zealand Formula Ford
MotorSport NZ’s longest running championship continues as a stepping stone for young drivers making the leap from kart racing. Race craft is honed, race lines learnt and single seater driving skills refined.
This class prepares drivers to step up to V8s or Toyota Racing Series, before looking offshore for international opportunities. Many a top racing star made their start in Formula Ford and we see this continuing for many years.
Sports GT
The ‘big boys’ will come out to play in our new Sports GT category this season. This is the place for any MotorSport NZ compliant saloon car to compete at the top level of competition at any or all six rounds of the championship series.
Expect to see the class characterised by fast sports cars, space framed Trans Am type rockets, V8 Supercars and Porsche GT3 Cup cars which previously had their own racing class. This class is all about the fastest cars creating great racing and variety.
& Production GT
Production GT has its roots in the former Production Racing Championship and is all about saloon racing cars that would have been able to be registered to drive on the roads in NZ.
So expect to see Mitsubishi Evos, Subaru Imprezas, Ford Focuses, Nissans and more battling it out on the track this summer.
NZ Endurance
Endurance racing joins the main game this year, with a two three round Endurance Championship Series to be held at Pukekohe, Powerbuilt Tools Raceway and Taupo.
Expect to see fantastic racing as these cars battle it out over three hours, with strategic pit-stops and driver changes an important part of the action.
Castrol BMW Race Driver Series
The Castrol BMW Race Drivers Series also joins us for two meetings on the calendar – Pukekohe and Taupo.
Split into three classes these cars are fantastic to watch and will add another new element to the race schedule. With upwards of 100 cars this will certainly be a great spectacle.
Central Muscle Cars
Central Region Muscle Cars join us again at Manfeild this season – this heavily modified saloon car class is always a crowd favourite.
These truly impressive cars have the inherent pedigree of bygone years of Bathurst, Wellington Street races and a host of other races both here and across the Tasman. Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Toranas and a range of the coolest Muscle Cars make great viewing both on the track and back in their pit area.
